I have a speeding ticket in Macomb Township and a red light ticket in Troy both from about 2-3 years ago and someone told me they only stay on for 2 years but my insurance agent says its still on my driving record with the state of michigan so what’s the right answer??? im getting killed here with my insurance i can barely afford to drive my car!!!

Points stay on your driving record with the Michigan Secetary of State for 2 years insofar as they are considered by the Michigan Secretary of State for driver’s license suspension purposes, or point accumulation on your driving record. However, automobile insurance is another matter all together. Depending on your insurance carrier, in Michigan driving infractions such as speeding, drunk driving, driving with a suspended license, careless driving, and other traffic tickets or driving related misdemeanor convictions may be considered more than 2 years by your insurance carrier, which will result in increased insurance rates.
It is very possible we may be able to set aside your convictions on these traffic tickets and be able to negotiate a plea to a charge with no points or less points than you are currently convicted of, which will help you out tremendously, amd may result in decreased insurance premiums and rates. You should definately call the Michigan driver’s license lawyers at Canu Torrice Law.
