Michigan Macomb County Attorneys at WWW.ALLLEGALMATTERS.COM:
I have been accused of stealing from my Walgreens employer in Macomb County by taking the night deposits, and now I have been fired and my employer says if I don’t make a written statement and confession I will be prosecuted…should I have my employer sign a contact or a piece of paper that he won’t prosecute me if I confess, and will that hold up in court? I’m really worried that if I don’t I’ll be scewed!!!
First, you have found Michigan’s best criminal law attorneys at http://www.alllegalmatters.com, so you are in luck!
First of all, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING! If you do it will be deemed a confession and can be used in any prosecution against you. Your employer is probably only concerned about restitution, and at our law firm we have been able to successfully negotiate cases like this without prosecution in the past if we are retained early enough…if you wait too long for representation you may very well find yourself being charged with Embezzlement by an Agent, which is a felony. Even if you pay your employer back, assuming you took the money, they may still decide to prosecute you anyway, and any contract you sign with Walgreens is not binding on the State of Michigan to prevent your prosecution. Your best bet is to call my office today and make an appointment to meet with our criminal defense team as soon as possible.
