To the Michigan criminal law attorneys at www.alllegalmatters.com I need serious help
Here’s my problem. I recently purchased a used computer from my neighbor who is buying a new one. When I brought it in to be checked out by a place, they said they found a large amount of illegal porn in the hard drive, and contacted police. Since I bought this from a “friend” (no sales receipt or proof), can I somehow proove that it wasn’t me?
First thank you for visiting the Michigan lawyers at http://www.alllegalmatters.com
I am assuming that you have been reported, or are under investigation for a possible internet crime for possession of underage pornographic material? Your legal matter is of a very sensitive nature that should not be discussed publically, but in short there are several defenses that may be available to you, but you need an experienced attorney in the area of sex crimes to assist you IMMEDIATELY or else you may be looking at some serious legal problems, and may not be home for Christmas this year.
I know attorneys always say that your legal matter needs immediate attention, but seriously, in your situation that is especially true. Even if you have not been charged yet, possession of illegal internet porn materials is a very serious felony offense. At Canu Torrice Law we specialize in defense of Internet crimes, and the attorneys at Canu Torrice Law frequently engage in pre-charge negotiations with prosecutors, police and sheriff deputies and if our attorneys get involved early enough, we can often prevent charges from being ever authorized! In Macomb County, Michigan, the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement team (M.A.C.E.) of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department are usually the ones involved in the investigation and charging of these types of offenses.
Criminal penalties for possession of child pornography in Michigan and other forms of Internet sex crimes are very severe. Depending on the case and the charges, there is a serious risk of being exposed to jail time or prison time, along with mandatory registration as a sexual offender on the Michigan sex offender registery. However, there are available to individuals who download or share images that turn out to be child pornography. If you have been charged or think you may be charged with a crime for possession of underage porographic material on your computer, you need to call Canu Torrice Law at (586) 285-1700 for legal representation right away. The criminal defense attorneys at Canu Torrice Law have legal assistants answering our phones 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.
