I received an offer to engage ticket in Detroit this last week at John R and Brentwood. I did not do anything wrong to get an offer to engage ticket. I did not offer to engage anything with a prostitute but the fake prostitute said that I did. The cop said that I offered 20 bucks for head. I no better then to ask a random person for head and I did not offer to engage anything else. This was a gigantic sting and there were a bunch of other guys there. Does it really take 3 days to get my car out? Can I really go to jail

Skyler, thanks for making a post. I have answered this exact same blog many times on this website. Please refer to: http://www.alllegalmatters.com/general/offer-engage-detroit/.
However, as it pertains to your specific question. When your car is taken by the City of Detroit for this alleged incident you may either fight it or purchase it back. By purchasing the car back you are not fighting the forfeiture and paying $900.00 as settlement. To process your car it does in fact take 3 days.
There is a very good possibility that you can go to jail. Offer to Engage carries a mandatory 45 days in jail if you plea guilty or are found guilty of the crime. It is very important to have a lawyer that handles these case all the time at 36th District Court. Many lawyers advertise that they handle offer to engage cases. Many lawyers will tell you that they know exactly what to do at 36th District Court. The truth of the matter is that many lawyers DO NOT know how to handle an offer to engage case at 36th District Court.
