Civil Lawsuit Served Against Me in Shelby Township

I really have no experience in dealing with lawsuits or anything like that but I know I was just served with a civil lawsuit in Shelby Township.  This civil suit is from an old business partner of mine and we do not get along at all.  I have never been a part of a lawsuit or had any experience in court and now this guy serves me with a civil lawsuit in Shelby Township for something  I had no idea about. Money isn’t a problem because I would pay off whatever I had to if I believed that I owed money for something but I know that I do not and this lawsuit is false.  The main things that I am worried about is that I cant go to jail for anything about this civil lawsuit right?  Also now that he wants to start serving a lawsuit I really want to beat this guy in Court at all costs.
